This is one of the first projects that I worked on when i moved to Hong Kong in 2013. It was a very spiritually tumultuous time for me, and i was very interested in the ways people found to physically manifest connections with what they valued spiritually – whether it was God, or ancestors, or the universe, or the spirits, or whatever. In Hong Kong, i suddenly had access to spaces and practices that at first glance threw my own (to my mind) untenable spiritual practice into sharp relief, but the more time i spent in these spaces the more i began to relate to them.
Anyway i never posted it because it felt too weirdly personal and my blog was still mostly commercial at the time, and also i only workshopped it for about three months so i still think it’s kind of half-baked. It also houses about 600 of my insecurities from moving to a new city. But for what it’s worth, here it is.
